Freddie Mac: Mortgage Serious Delinquency rate declined in May, Lowest since May 2008

Freddie Mac reported that the Single-Family serious delinquency rate in May was at 0.87%, down from 0.92% in April.  Freddie's rate is down from 1.11% in May 2016. Freddie's serious delinquency rate peaked in February 2010 at 4.20%. This is the lowest serious delinquency rate since May 2008. These are mortgage loans that are "three monthly payments or more past due or in foreclosure".  Click on graph for larger image Although the rate is still declining, the rate of decline has slowed.
